In 2004, the core of our team was working at a 1,000+-lawyer international firm, specialists in life sciences, biotech, pharma, and chemistry, doing exceptional work inside a machine built for something else. The red tape, the conflict checks, the overhead. It got in the way.
We brainstormed the idea of having a specialized firm that could provide the same detailed expertise and white-glove service a large firm can provide, but without all the baggage. Two months later, we started PPG. Over 95% of our clients came with us.”

Most practitioners avoid appeals entirely. PPG has disposed hundreds of appeals on record, with a win rate 5 pp higher than the USPTO average. In our strongest domains, the margin grows with allowance rates +10 points above the USPTO average in biomaterials, +11 points in peptides and proteins.
The national examiner interview rate is low because most firms don’t bother. PPG’s rate is more than double that. Getting an examiner on the phone early, before positions harden, changes what’s possible.
Boutique focus makes this possible. A generalist practice group has too many competing priorities to fight this hard on every application. We don’t.
