PPG to Participate in Georgia Legal Food Frenzy as Demand at Food Banks Soars

PPG to Participate in Georgia Legal Food Frenzy
The 9th Annual Georgia Legal Food Frenzy is in full-swing as virtual fundraiser competition from April 20 through May 1, with a goal of raising $325,000 across the state. Local Georgia residents are experiencing heightened food insecurity, due to the extraordinary circumstances brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. One in four children in Georgia live in a household where food cannot regularly be provided, and during these troubled times the need for a fundraiser like Legal Food Frenzy has never been greater.

The online fundraiser is spearheaded by the Office of the Attorney General, the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia, and the Georgia Food Bank Association. During the 2019 competition, Pabst Patent Group raised the equivalent of 7307 meals during the 8th Annual Georgia Legal Food Frenzy competition.

“We are proud to contribute to the Georgia Food Bank Association’s efforts during this trying time,” said Eli Monheit, Chief Operating Officer of Pabst Patent Group. “For children who rely on free or reduced meals at school, the COVID-19 stay-at-home orders have been particularly damaging. Our fundraising efforts, and the generosity of those who support us, will help relieve local families struggling to feed their children and support the long-term needs of our food banks.”

Since public schools closed in mid-March, local food banks have seen a 40% uptick in distribution.  Due to health concerns, other Atlanta Community Food Bank fundraising events (such as the Hunger Walk Run) have been cancelled, leaving a projected deficit of one million dollars this year.
