Dr. Verghese assists with prior art research, patent application drafting and patent prosecution before the USPTO, and corresponds with foreign associates to guide the prosecution of foreign applications.

Dr. Verghese has over 16 years of research experience in the life sciences, with expertise spanning cancer biology, molecular biology, genetics, and gene regulation. Her technical expertise includes molecular and cellular biology, genetics, gene expression, and microscopy. Her research has focused on signaling pathways involved in development and disease, as well as the molecular mechanisms underlying replication-dependent histone gene regulation.

Dr. Verghese earned her B.S. in Biotechnology from Loyola Academy in India and her M.S. in Biotechnology from BIMR & College of Life Sciences in India. She received her Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Dayton. She subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Colorado Boulder and Emory University. 

Dr. Verghese has co-authored 11 peer-reviewed publications, including research and review articles, as well as a book chapter. Her research has provided her with a broad understanding of molecular and genetic mechanisms underlying development and disease.

Dr. Verghese became interested in intellectual property and the commercialization of scientific discoveries through her work with Emory University's Office of Technology Transfer. As a Licensing Associate Intern, she evaluated invention disclosures spanning therapeutics, diagnostics, medical devices, and biologics, gaining experience assessing emerging technologies for intellectual property protection and commercialization. She subsequently pursued training in patent law through the Patent Pathways Program and Casimir Jones Patent Academy. Dr. Verghese is a registered patent agent before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
